D222H™
D222H™
is a high thermal shock resistant catalyst bed support for Hydro-cracking and Hydro processing applications. It is the world’s best support media for your high temperature and pressure reactors, which gives a supreme reliability.
The hydro-cracking unit is the most versatile of refinery conversion units. It can process a wide range of feed stocks from naphtha to asphalt to yield any desired product with a molecular weight lower than that of the feedstock.
In the 1960s, hydro-cracking was widely used to produce gasoline in the United States. Since the 1970s it has also gained worldwide recognition for its high-quality distillate products. In the environmentally conscious 1990s, hydro-cracking may be the best source of low-sulphur and low-aromatics diesel fuel as well as high-smoke-point jet fuel.
These processes are severe and thermal anomalies can appear, putting stress on the catalyst and the bed support. Most of the time a better quality ceramic balls are being used for these, but because of the extremely high cost of reactor failing due to problem with spalling or breaking bed support we developed a ceramic bed support that can withstand high thermal shock, more than what could ever possibly happen in a catalytic reaction.
Our D222 H balls shape are spherical and smooth and each nominal size has a very narrow size distribution, minimizing pressured across the bed.
Passes The UOP (3-37-3) Standard Test
The UOP (3-37-3) quench test, by heating the balls to 500 degrees C and dunking these in water with 75 degrees C, causes severe thermal stress, exponentially more for bigger balls. Thermal stress cracks the ordinary ceramic balls but D222 H withstands this thermal stress.
The stress cracking is measured by dropping the balls from 6 meters onto a 10mm thick steel plate. D222 H is he only bed support that can withstand this test for all normal sizes.
We have tested many competitive products, even the most renown. After breaking the quenched balls we inspected the break surface for stress crack formation and observed the difference between other bed support balls and D222H.
